Aching.

Recently, I've been heavily in to listening to the beautiful music of June Carter Cash and Johnny Cash. They became popular with my generation after the release of Walk The Line...although I've always been a fan. I never quite understood what they meant to the world of music. And, the world of love.

I think the understanding came last night. I was listening to my all time favorite song by them and watching them sing it to each other. The love they had for each other was an aching, dripping love and you can tell just by watching them. They weren't just singing, they were having a real conversation and they meant every word.

When Matt and I were first dating (like within the first week), he made me a "mixed CD" and it had this song on it. That is when I really knew we were forever.

I hope our children can feel how much love we have for each other. How I'm his June and he's my Johnny. It's funny because our story is similar to theirs (I definitely won't get into it...but it is) and we relate to the purity of their music so well. The beautiful harmonies of The Carter Family have been echoing through our home lately and it's quite lovely.

We're lucky that God gave us to each other. We are a balance. He has what I need- regularity, responsibility, a steady hand. I have what he needs- spontaneity, laughter, reasons not to worry. I think of all the things we've faced already and I know it's just the beginning. It excites me to know that, all the things we've faced are just the beginning of all the wonderful, amazing things we have ahead of us. And that makes my heart burst.
